What is flux-cored arc welding (FCAW)?

Flux-cored arc welding uses a wire that has flux inside the core. The flux melts as the wire feeds, producing its own shielding without an external gas bottle. It runs faster than stick and handles outdoor conditions better than MIG.

Flux-core is the right call for outdoor structural welding, dirty metal, and high-deposition production work where MIG would lose its shielding gas to wind.
